Friday 27 April: Glasgow Community Care Providers Forum
Dr Martin Bartos will be representing the Scottish Green Party at the Glasgow Community Care Providers Forum (GCCPF) All Party Question Time. GCCPF is a membership organisation for providers (voluntary organisations, private care companies and registered social landlords) of health & social care services in Glasgow. Members of GCCPF provide round the clock services within a range of community, health & social care sectors such as homelessness, addiction, learning disability, older people, mental health and supported living.
The panel will also include: Johann Lamont (Scottish Labour Party), Katy Gordon (Scottish Liberal Democrats), Davena Rankin (Scottish Conservatives), Stewart Maxwell (SNP), Rosie Kane (Scottish Socialist Party), Tommy Sheridan (Solidarity) and Pat Lally (Scottish Senior Citizens Unity Party).
Charlie Barker of GCCPF said: "The focus of this meeting with local candidates will be to press for greater detail on how their parties propose to respond to the growing funding crisis many of our members are facing and the future value of vital care to the most vulnerable within our communities. Last week we heard that there will be no uplift for the 4th year in funding for Supporting People services in Glasgow and hundreds of charity workers are being consulted by Unison over possible strike action. There is also grave concern for organisations around the impact of the raid on the Lottery to fund the spiralling costs of the 2012 Olympics."
